A unique solution for DJs who love the feel of vinyl but want to use their CDs for mixing and scratching, the Numark CDX CD turntable literally combines the best of both worlds. Unlike other CD turntables, which merely mimic the construction of traditional record players, the CDX uses a genuine 12-inch record as the controlling interface. In other words, the CDX not only looks like a turntable, but it actually feels like one as well. The CD responds to each movement of the 12-inch record whether you're scratching, battling, or looping, resulting in a DJ experience that harnesses modern digital formats while feeling as smooth and tangible as classic vinyl.
The CDX employs the same ultra-high-torque direct-drive motor as Numark's flagship TTX turntable, with adjustable start and stop times. It's also the same height as traditional turntables, and its dual start/stop buttons reside on either side of the platter, making it easy to position the turntable for "standard" or "battle" use. Among the CDX's shared CD/turntable features are impressive +/- 6, 12, 25, and 100 percent pitch control ranges; a key lock function that keeps vocals and music in the proper key even when the tempo increases dramatically; a built-in beatkeeper that delivers accurate and instant beat-per-minute readouts; and a DSP processor that lets DJs employ such effects as echo, slide, sonar, bleep, and filter--all controlled by a dedicated wheel. DJs can also activate the stutter function to instantly jump around within the track, or they can use the 3,000 cue points when loading a new CD to immediately access specific passages. And thanks to the quick-loading CD slot, DJs can swap out discs in no time at all.
Though Numark supplies a 12-inch LP for the slipmat, any record will do (it's the wheel that controls the CD, not the record). DJs can also synchronize the CDX with drum machines and other MIDI devices due to the MIDI I/O. Additional features include a S/PDIF digital output, a bright VFD display that shows beats per minute, time, and unit status, and anti-shock buffer technology. The CDX measures 17.75 by 3.62 by 14.5 inches (W x H x D) and is covered by a two-year warranty.

They are excelent quality better then the Denon's Dns-5000. The sound quality is clear, the interface is easy to get used to, and the effects are great. It plays both regular cd's, burned cd's and Mp3 cd's. The platter is extremely smooth and accurate so mixing is easy and has 4 diffrent scratch modes. The BPM counter respons right when you put the track and it has the capability to automatically interlock beats between one cdx and another for those who are just starting out. I love this thing! Plays MP3 and WAV files just fine. One problem it dose have is it ejects the cd when trying to load. It's happened a few times now and I'm getting a little nervous about how long it will last before it stops working all together. I gave it 4 stars because for this problem. If youre looking at this product incomparison to any turntable that doesnt turn, STOP LOOKING.Ill give you the negative up front. This is twice the size of a vinyl turntable & 4 times the size of any table top. It is heavy; especially once you put it in a flight case for travel protection. Also, with this product no longer being in production you may be hard pressed to find anyone to repair it should the need arise. Numark refers to an off-site repair facility. With that said, this is the only turntable that has an authentic vinyl feel for modern cd/mp3 djs. When did you ever see a dj scratching on a 45? So why invest in a table top? Plus its a conversation starter. I cant comment on how many people have asked where the record needle was. Once i explained how it worked(my CDXs accompany a Rane mixer & Serato software), they always come back with friends. I bought mine used but ive never been disappointed by them.
