(You heat it in the microwave or oven.) There's a large quantity of drying material inside, so it's very effective. It's a heavy glass jar -- not easy to break or knock over. Someone else said there's not quite enough room inside. Not so, seems to me. My hearing aids are behind-the-ear, so they're not tiny. There's plenty of room. If you have really, really big hearing aids, you can dump out some of the drying material to make more room.On the other hand, this product is not sold or shipped by Amazon, so you don't get Amazon's reasonable shipping rates. Instead the product costs $15 and shipping is $7.50. The actual shipping cost is probably around a dollar. This is insulting and offensive. Do they think we are stupid? An honest seller would charge actual shipping cost, and raise the price, if necessary to make a fair profit. I use them in my classroom if the kids wear their hearing aids outside to recess... it pulls the moisture right out. It's best to store your H.A. in this at night to keep it dry. Remember to remove the battery before placing your H.A. inside.
