It does cradle your head and keep you in a supine position. The "tongue" piece is a bit uncomfortable at first, but after a few nights you get used to it.The support is firm and at the right height for comfort. The two sides are for sleeping on your side - they are a great height and take the pressure off of your shoulders. BUT the foam does not have any indentation for your ears and is very uncomfortable! I read that others said the same and should have paid attention! I actually cut out a divot so that my ear was not crushed.
